Who are you?

Hey heeey!

I've been thinking. Been blogging, posting, updating for soooo long... About me and my work.
Ego ego ego. So like I said, It got me thinking...

I barely know who's here reading. So let's have a post about YOU guys. I know some of you already, but who are the rest? I can see you lurking. The statistics are there, some of you comment, some of you hide. I'd love to know who all of you are, please show yourselves. Don't be shy! It would mean a lot :)

Who are you?

How old are you?

Do you draw?

Why do you follow my blog?

Where are you from?

Are you a professional/student/hobbyist?

Any secret super powers?

I can start :)

Hi! I'm Andrea, also known as Noukah(been using that name online since I was 15).
I'm a professional living in Sweden, working as a concept artist and illustrator. Been drawing since I was 2, and I'm 28 now.

I enjoy creating content for my blog/portfolio on my spare time. And just love drawing in general(duh...), so that's basically what I fill my life with. I also live with a mogwai and a gremlin, and love horseback riding. And going to the gym. Oh, and I have some sort of a fourleaf-vision, been picking nearly a thousand. Yeah, I know. Useless super power number 1.

Now it's your turn, bring it on!
(Svenska går också bra ;) )

////

Svenska :)

Tjaaaaa!

- Andrea

  1. Hej hej,
jag heter Christian, it's the only sentence I can think of right now, I'm 29 years old and begun to take painting seriously for two years by now. I drew as a kid, but never much. A part of my family lives in Sweden, but I'm from Germany. I follow your blog since I discovered it, but found your art at deviantart. I follow it because I prefer to stay in touch and curious how you are.
I call myself a professional artist, but can barely make a living out of it yet, therefore my superpower may be stubbornness orendurance^^

    1. Hej Christian! :) Nice to hear a bit more about you, you're one of those who visit and comment often, and I'm so glad you do :D It's cool that you have some relatives in Sweden, it's a small world. Where in Sweden do the live? Do you visit them sometimes?

Stubobirness is an awesome super power. Just keep going!!

  2. Hej,

  3. Haha, very nice idea :). so, here we go!

I'm Marcel aka Marschelarts on most of my online accounts (its supposed to be pronounced like martial-arts with a german way of writing ). I'm 25 years old and an artist as well.

I follow your blog because your work Is a huge inspiration for me. I follow your work since I saw your fanart for " freak the mighty " ( awsome movie by the way ) on deviant art. You basicly inspired me to use more vibrant colours and helped me break out of the " I have to do everything hyper realistic to have a chance " mindset. I love your style and the way you draw your characters and creatures so full of live.

I'm from germany and I'm a professional artist as well. I worked as Illustrator / Conceptartist for a little development studio and hope to find new work as soon as possible.

Superpowers... hm... the power is not " super " by any means but I am quite good with cooking :D

I think I got all your questions :)

    1. Heyy Marcel

Marschelarts - Nice pun ;) Clever!

Wow, glad my art could inspire you! And thank you for your kind words, as always. How's Gremany, is the art community big over there? Here it's still rather small.

Cooking - that's cool! I suck at it haha. I rather cook dishes that are rather "quick and dirty". And vegan hehe.

  4. Hideliho!
My name is Mikael (although I usually go by M.Å.J. Jansson in all the various art projects I do). I'm 30, born and raised in Sweden (on an island actually). I draw/paint a bit in my spare time, but not really with any intention of having that as a career. Instead I have my sights set on writing, so I try to keep my focus on that. I have however been drawing for as long as I can remember.

I've been following your blog since I started following blogs in general, a few years back. I think it's interesting to follow the escapades of other trying to make it in an art career. And to serve as a bit of inspiration :)

Superpowers, eh? Hmm... Is procrastination a superpower? If so, I'll go with that. Otherwise, maybe the superpower to take on new interest and get really invested in them really quickly :)

Interesting, I always pictured you as a hardcore draftsman. What are you writing? Aiming to publish something?

Glad I could inspire you! :)

Being an interested person sounds like a legit power. Wish I had that kind of focus on the right things. I often obsess about less important stuff.

  5. I'll play along! I'm John, I'm 30 years old and I'm from Grand Rapids, Michigan, the epicenter of progressive culture. I've been drawing since I was a kid, and while I don't do it for a living (yet!) I do run a Monster of the Day challenge - a new ink and watercolor monster everyday! You can check it out here: https://www.facebook.com/ArtofJohnJurries

I follow you're blog because I love your style and am always looking for inspiration! I'm really enjoying you're 'pep talk' posts as of late too!

What's your secret? Do you have some sort of mantra that helps you turn the lights off? ;)

  6. Hello Andrea!

I got to be honest here, I don't regularly follow your blog, I visit it once in a while, especially when you share your great work on Facebook.
We met while working on the same movie in Stockholm and since then your work improved in a way I couldn't imagine back then. I truly admire your endless passion and motivation.

Who am I? hm, that's not an easy one.
29 years old, originally from Italy now living in France.
I do not draw but I was born in a family where everyone was constanty drawing, and I was constantly reminded that I could not draw...funny enough I ended up taking an artist path on my own...
I hated school stuff so I started to do my own things.
Started to work as freelance 3D modeller while studying animation and then I moved into 3D animation. This allowed me to live in 5 different countries in less then 8 years and to get to know extraordinary people. Right when I felt I was a good animator and I felt I could really animate anything anytime without too much effort I asked myself "What do I want to do now?" and "Where is my next challenge?" that was the moment I decided to follow my new dream and try to became a professional travel photographer. Almost 3 years went by and now I'm about to do an important step in my career as photographer.

I guess that I'm someone that can not live without a higher goal and a schedule full of things that excite me. I love discovering new places and new people as ultimately I feel like I'm actually discovering my inner self.

superpowers? probably being very self critique...I believe it is a kind of superpower quite overlooked in this day.

wish you all the best Andrea! I'll see you soon whenever I'll be back in sthlm.

Thank you so much for your kind words, you've always been very encourageing towards me and I value that a lot.

I had no idea that you were brought up from an afrtstic family, which is pretty interesting! I still believe that you're very artistic. You just discovered other ways to express it, just like you mentioned(animation and photography). I kinda admire that you can switch gear like that. You're extremely driven!

And yes! Be sure to give me a call when you come here to visit :)

  8. Hej Andrea!

My name is Andreas, I'm 36 years old and I live in Stockholm (originally I'm from Falun). I've admired your work for a few years now, and I'm constantly stunned by the quality of your work. I love cute and pretty artwork – it makes me feel happy inside – and I have a particular soft spot for art with a fairytale flavor to it. And your art is very high up on my list. Plus, you seem like a very nice person.

I used to draw quite a lot, but pretty much stopped at around the time you started posting (early 2000s) due to health issues. I still love art though and I still consider myself a hobby artist, and I hope to gather the courage to start producing art again someday. Right now though I work as a professional Japanese translator.

Super powers? Hmm, probably my constant love for studying and improving, as well as my ability to eat limitless amounts of dark chocolate.

Keep it up the great work!

Thanks for your kind words :D So happy you find my style appealing and that it sparks some happy feelings inside you. That's exactly what I'm aiming for - to make people smile.

Sorry to hear about your health issues, I can't imagine how horrible that can be.. I'm glad to hear that you still make some art though, and I hope you gain courage to start creating- Just do it! :) Babysteps!

Is Japanese hard? I can only count to ten, and say "thank you" in Japanese, haha.

We kinda share the same "super power" in a way. I'm constantly addicted to improvement, and believe it's a good skill to have.

Sending some creative vibes towards you, hope you had a great Halloween and got to stuff your face with dark chocolate :)

  10. Hi Andrea! I'm Tom, and I'm 29.I love to draw, and have been doing it for years. I like most creative stuff to be honest, but drawing seems to be the best way of getting my ideas out. Here's my sketchbooky blog - http://tomercs.blogspot.co.uk/

I can't remember when I found your blog, but I've been following for a while now.I think the lighting and colours of the pieces are what really keep me looking. But, the poses, designs and humour are stunning too. So much thought that you cram into simple looking pieces!

I'm a designer in London, and draw most of the time at work, but I wouldn't consider myself an artist. The stuff I do tends to be explanatory, rather than pretty in its own right. That's why I come and look here - for inspiration and to lean.

Super power: Lurking on blogs without commenting!

Thanks for all the lovely drawings.

Just checking your blog- got some really neat stuff going on there!

And thak you, so glad that you appreciate my work :D It means a lot, and that's mostly what keeps me going whenever I doubt myself or my art.

I think that as long as you actually do something creative, especially during your most pructive hours of the day - you can surely consider yourself an artist! Looking at your blog content, I would call you a concept artist.

See you around, and thanks for shoving your super power aside for this post haha!

  11. Hejhej,
My name is Moa, and I'm 19 years old from Sweden. I just happen to find you on Behance a month ago and started to follow you on bloglovin. I love your drawing techniques and all your charming animals!
I've been painting my whole life but I have never been as absorbed by it as I became when I got my wacom tablet two months ago. I work full-time as a library assistant and in the evenings I can't do anything else but paint in photoshop. My superpower is multitasking, otherwise I wouldn't be able to do all the things I want... haha. It is a good but exhausting qualification.

Thanks for all the inspiring drawings!

haha yup, multitasking is really powerful when done right. Wish I could master that D:

  13. Hey, Andrea! My name is Fabián Fucci, 44 years old visual artist rom Argentina, and I like to make comics and animation. If I am a follower of your blog it is because your art is a regular inspiration to me, also because your open attitude, and simple and clear writing. I am currently publishing my webcomic Vidas extremas (Extreme Lives) online, and gathering ideas for my next short film.

My only secret power (at least the only one that counts right now) is the power of will, added to some knowledge about practical goal achieving, even if goals are extremely ambitious and require a hell of a lot of time to complete (my last short film took one year long). This, of course, needs a daily practice.

Please keep up with your blog, :-)
